Frequently Asked Questions

TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) is the total number of calories you burn in a day — your BMR multiplied by an activity factor. To maintain weight, eat at your TDEE. To lose weight, eat below it; to gain, eat above it.

The Mifflin-St Jeor equation (1990) is considered the most accurate BMR formula for most adults. It accounts for weight, height, age, and sex. The Harris-Benedict equation is also commonly used but tends to slightly overestimate BMR.

1 kg of body fat is approximately 7,700 calories. To lose 1 kg per week, create a daily deficit of about 1,100 calories below your TDEE. For most people, a safer rate is 0.5 kg per week (550-calorie deficit), which is more sustainable long-term.
