BMI vs Body Fat Percentage: Which Matters More for Your Health?
BMI is widely used but has real limitations. Body fat percentage offers more accuracy — but which should you actually track?
By EpicToolify Editorial
BMI and body fat percentage both attempt to quantify body composition, but they use very different approaches. BMI uses only weight and height — simple, but unable to distinguish between fat and muscle. Body fat percentage directly measures fat mass as a proportion of total body weight.
If you have access to body fat measurement (DEXA, skinfold, or bioelectrical impedance), use it. If not, BMI + waist circumference together give a more complete picture than BMI alone.
